I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

I have over 15 years of teaching experience at both the high school and college level. Past courses which I have taught at the high school level include: Physics, Advanced Physics, AP Physics I, AP Physics 2, AP Physis C, Honors Geometry, Algebra II, and Honors PreCalculus. At the college level I have taught both algebra- and calculus-based physics, as well as, several graduate courses in Applied Physics, Optics and Thermodynamics. I am extremely passionate about the subjects I teach, but I understand that students don't all approach learning from the same ability level or viewpoint. Accordingly, I strive to make my lessons fun and appealing to all backgrounds by utilizing examples, where appropriate, from topics that are of interest to each specific student. I use a variety of teaching methods dependent on the specific student I am working with, recognizing that no two students are the same. Physics in particular provides a wonderful avenue for this approach, as problems can be made to fit most sports or hobbies.

From a personal standpoint, I was born and raised in Australia, but have spent the past 22 years of my life residing in the U.S.A. I completed my Ph.D. in Australia before moving to the United States for my Postdoctoral Fellowship. Since then, I have spent several years teaching physics and/or mathematics at both the high school and college level. As the mother of two teenage daughters, a sophomore in college and a junior in high school, both avid volleyball players, I am well aware of the demands on students to balance academic and athletic/extracurricular schedules. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, seeing movies, reading, doing Pilates and just relaxing!
