Certified Tutor

I am a graduate of the University of Michigan with a Master of Social Work. I also have a B.S. degree in Biomedical Science from Grand Valley State University. I worked for 16 years in social work before taking a break. I have an ESL certificate and have been tutoring children in China online for the past two years. I love working with them on their communication skills and, we have a great time learning new words and using them to talk about their lives.

While my college degrees may not reflect it, I am very passionate about English and Literature. I currently tutor a high school student, working with him to improve his essay writing abilities. We work on finding themes in the material that interest him so that writing can be more fun for him.

In my spare time I work on writing my own fiction and creative non-fiction pieces, participate yearly in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), read, dabble with music, and watch movies.
