Hi! My name is Ben Ley and I graduated cum laude from NYU with a Bachelor's degree in chemistry and a minor in math. Although I wasn't as experienced in chemistry as my peers entering college, my passion for learning combined with excellent teaching staff gave me the opportunity to realize my full potential. Teachers who considered my thought process first and helped guide me to the solution were the most effective for not only for me but for students of all knowledge backgrounds. Coming from this rich experience, my goal for teaching students is to show how much of a difference a teacher can make in having you actually learn and enjoy a subject.

My experience in tutoring is from helping classmates in some of the most difficult classes for chemistry majors (physical chemistry, organic chemistry; calculus I-III, linear algebra etc.) This method optimized everyone's performance on exams and quizzes because we learned from collaborating, not by having information dictated to one another. I also have experience with local students at a high school level. Again, with any age group and knowledge background I start with their thought process and we work towards a solution collaboratively.

Given my experience starting out in college was very similar to the people seeking a tutor's help, I'm a relatable and patient tutor wanting students of all knowledge backgrounds to succeed.
