I was a reporter and editor for my school's weekly newspaper, which kept me busy at school until midnight most Thursdays. One such night, as I took a break outside, I considered that I might want to return one day as a teacher.
So, I stored that thought in the recesses of my mind for a while. I entered college thinking I'd be a doctor; after a few semesters of biology and chemistry classes, I changed tack to pursue a career in counseling. Well, that lasted until I fell in love with creative writing, which remained a pursuit until I graduated. Then, when the time came to decide on a profession, I finally listened to my heart to become a teacher. In the three years since, I have taught high school English and earned a Master's degree in the Humanities. Teaching and learning are where I belong.
Since high school, I've known in my heart that I want to be a teacher. It may have taken a circuitous route to return to that passion, but now I cannot imagine another job. When I tutor, I remember that high school version of myself. If I can teach you what my teachers taught me both in terms of content and in terms of personal developmentI'll consider it a success.
