Hi! I'm Beth, and I'm so happy to meet you! I have over 22 years of experience teaching English. I have a BA in English and an M.Ed. with an emphasis on Reading.
One thing that makes me successful is that I recognize the essential truth of any classroom, whether online or in-person: students must feel comfortable and safe being themselves in order to learn. I am committed to preserving an accepting classroom environment that is constructive and safe.
My strength is in working with people for whom the subject of English is a challenge and in building relationships with my students that allow them to be vulnerable enough to take risks.

Hobbies

In addition to teaching, I am also a professional novelist. I have written 5 books for teens and 1 creative non-fiction book for trauma survivors. For me, writing is like breathing. I also love animals: I have 3 dogs, a cat, 2 Nigerian dwarf goats, and I feed the menagerie of wildlife that live in the woods around my house.
