Certified Tutor
Welcome Parents & Students!
Thank you for visiting our website!!!
Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Dr. Dominica. My earned credentials include: Doctor of Special Education with completed dissertation on Orton Gillingham, Dyslexia/Autism, and the Science of Reading. As your Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, and struggling learner specialist, I am dedicated to providing individuals of all ages who are struggling with reading, writing, spelling, writing, mathematics, executive functioning, social/emotional/behavioral concerns, hope, motivation, self-assessment, self-reflection, & self-regulation. I am an individual with Dyslexia and therefore am capable of capturing Orton-Gillingham/Montessori approaches to meet each individual's academic and social needs (self confidence, motivation, self determination, resilience).
I have experienced first hand what it is like to measure the font of the letters because of the lack of direct, explicit, multisensory, systematic, & cumulative instruction in the area of phoneme proficiency. As a result, the understanding of syllable sounds, syllable types, and syllable division rules no longer will be a mystery to my students. In addition to earned Doctor of Special Education credentials, I also possess two plus master's degrees which has resulted in the following multi-state certifications: educational diagnostician/LDT-C, Special Education, Reading Supervisor, Reading Specialist, Literacy Coach for Teachers & Parents ESL, Elementary, and school administration licensure. I am certified in Wilson, Orton Gillingham, ESL, and DIBELS and therefore, I am continuing my education with professional development in all of the latest research and strategies. At this moment in time, I am earning my School Psychologists and Counseling credentials.
Over the past 20 years, I have worked in public, private, remote, urban, rural, suburban, and world-wide instructional settings. Through my diverse experiences working with the child study team, I have acquired expertise in Special Advocacy, Assessment, & customized 504 & IEP programming. As a psychometrist, I have the ability to collaborate and interpret educational assessments ("the what: phoneme proficiency, decoding, fluency, and/or comprehension), cognitive assessments ("the why" or processing strengths/needs), so that a specific, customized instructional and progress monitoring plan (the "how") can be designed for each particular learner. Consequently, I understand the significance of the lack of quality instruction, intervention, and assessment services for struggling students. As a result, I'm able to provide patience, passion, and empathy to struggling learners in order to meet their social, emotional, and executive functioning needs.
My role as your tutor is to make the most of every opportunity and to provide additional resources in a Google Classroom. Assessment feedback will be provided at every session as progress is closely monitored. Parents will be able to communicate with their tutor through text messaging and cell phone calls. My instruction is guided by assessment to ensure growth and achievement! 'It is my hope that you will never be afraid of those mountains in the distance. It is my hope that you will never take the path of least resistance. It might mean taking chances, but they're worth taking. It is my wish for you that this life becomes everything you want it to be. Keep your dreams big and your worries small. Never carry more than you can handle. You should know that someone cares about you while you're out there getting where you're going!'
Educationally yours,
Dr. Dominica
