Having taught for almost 20 years now has gained me a plethora of experience. I have worked in different capacities as an educator, such as classroom teacher, private tutor, education specialist, teaching students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. I have experience teaching ELL and ESL in addition to students with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Primarily, I have focused my teaching in the areas of English, Reading, Composition, and Language Arts because of my BA in English with an emphasis in Writing and my TEFL certification.

In the last few years, I have also been instructing chess and yoga lessons. These are activities that I believe support the mind and the educational process with rigor as well as healing. I love to use cross curriculum teaching methods.

I strive to not only teach a student information, but to make the lesson meaningful and relatable to real life. I believe this ensures retention and use. Useless knowledge, is just that. Additionally, I aim to encourage and motivate my students beyond what they think they are capable. Without hope and courage, thinkers would never become the creators and doers of the world.
