I'm a current senior at Harvard University earning a double major in Environmental Science and Public Policy and Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality. During my time at Harvard, I've done a wide variety of education-related work. I've taught my own self-designed course on Feminism, Intersectionality, and Queer Theory to high school students in both the US and Vietnam, and I currently design and lead customized inclusivity trainings with Harvard's Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
I also have extensive experience as a mentor. I have advised ten first-year students each year for the past two years through Harvard's official peer advising program. I helped design, lead, and institutionalize FYRE, Harvard's first pre-orientation program for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students. As part of FYRE's leadership, I mentored another ten students directly and served as an advocate for all 100 students in the program.
I am well-qualified to teach a wide variety of subjects due to the interdisciplinary nature of Harvard's education generally and of each of my majors specifically. For example, Environmental Science & Public Policy majors are required not only to take classes on earth and climate science, but also on economics, biochemistry, calculus, and social sciences. I spent a year on the pre-med track, so I'm well-versed in hard sciences. I also spent two years on the Spanish Language Citation track and studied abroad in Costa Rica, so I'm comfortable speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish. In high school, I took many honors and AP courses on literature and history and have continued to take such diverse coursework at Harvard, experiences which make me an apt tutor in the humanities.
My current academic project is my senior thesis, which will examine the impacts of different farming techniques on small-scale farmers in Latin America. In my free time, I am a writer, a studio artist, a dancer, and an avid foodie.
