Elizabeth: Colchester tutor
Certified Tutor
My mission in education is to impact the lives of all children by improving their academic skills, communication skills and social interactions.
I received my education at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh 1971-1975. My degree is a Bachelor of Science double major in Education K-5 and Special Education Nursery-post high school. I also received a Certification for Dyslexia Tutoring in 2006.
I have many certifications and workshop/seminar hours applicable to all aspects of education.
I tutored for eight years in Las Vegas and two years in Wilmington, NC. My favorite subject to tutor is reading, especially for the struggling dyslexic child or adult student. Another favorite is working with young children with ASD. I really like providing a positive experience that effects the ASD child's life. I spent five years in the public school venue but found I made more impact private tutoring .
My philosophy is to make a positive impact on children that will help them use their life skills to independently function to the best of their ability and to teach their parents to advocate for their child.
Interests I have besides improving children's lives are my grandchildren, cooking, making felt Christmas stockings, reading, gardening, word games and puzzles, intelligent conversation, visiting my parents and children, playing with and grooming my two small dogs and last but not least the beach and ocean.
