I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

As a recent graduate from Penn State University, I have fresh academic experience, a keen understanding of current teaching methods, and a strong commitment to education. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a distinct passion for Continental Philosophy and Western Literature. In the year (and change) since I've graduated, I have continued my education with three English courses in Western Literary History at the Community College of Philadelphia and Montgomery County Community College. While my academic experience has provided me with a broad knowledge of the Humanities, I am primarily devoted to English, Literature, and Philosophy and express a unique passion for reading, writing, research, and philosophical discussion.

The subjects I enjoy tutoring most are: English, American Literature, English Grammar and Syntax, Essay Editing, Writing, Philosophy, Philosophical Ethics, and Social Sciences.

As I see it, our greatest strength as humans is our faculty of knowledge, our capacity to use reason and judgment. Education is the means by which we make accessible this invaluable tool, and my objective as an educator is to provide students with an enthusiasm for learning that will promote their academic success. Literature, philosophy, and writing are fundamental components of a well-founded education, and I believe wholeheartedly that a genuine, constructive experience in these subjects is indispensable. For that reason, I highly encourage reading, interpreting, comparing, and discussing while tutoring.

Although I am highly dedicated to philosophy and reading outside of academia, I also enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, and road-tripping. In addition to that, I am also a devoted writer and enjoy composing philosophical essays in my spare time. I find academic research and discussion invigorating; with luck, I can propel my students to the same level of enthusiasm.

I would absolutely love the opportunity to learn with you!
