I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Astrophysics, where I graduated magna cum laude with departmental honors, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Physical Chemistry. I received both my degrees from the University of New Mexico. I have also completed a 3-year post doc in theoretical computational chemistry at Washington State University and I now live in Camas, Washington, just across the river from Portland. I have been a teaching assistant multiple times, primarily for a college undergraduate Physical Chemistry for Non-Majors class. I have also been the sole instructor for a math review course for a mixed undergraduates and graduate class. When tutoring students, I like to first focus on problem-solving strategies. That is, I like to discuss the best way to look at a question or problem and how to break it down into a familiar, more approachable format. While there a several topics where I believe I can help, including general chemistry, astronomy, and math up through Calculus III and Linear Algebra, I enjoy talking about Calculus and Physical Chemistry the most. I have been involved in academic research since the summer of 2002, so I am comfortable discussing various academic challenges and the methods that can be used to overcome them. Outside of the research lab, I enjoy reading, playing video games, and watching YouTube or Twitch
