Hello, students and parents! I'm Tyrus, a junior attending Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, where I am pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Aerospace Engineering. I have always been passionate about math and science courses; however, I believe that often students will lose sight of what it really means to learn in these STEM areas. I become disheartened when my peers dismiss an entire topic due to a lack of comfort or inability to see a further purpose. To combat this, I stress the importance of exploring a subjects' core content in addition to promoting the need for further exploration and discovery. When you are able to understand content and apply it beyond the scope of a structured practice problem, you will be able to face any test question your teacher throws your way. Everyone learns differently and in allowing for individual discovery you are able to create a personal understanding and take advantage of your passions and strengths to help you succeed. With this in mind, I focus primarily on helping you become both comfortable and fearless in your subject by going beyond the minimum requirements. You don't train to run the mile by only ever running up to a mile, you run both long and short distances to hone in on the skills required to best prepare yourself in all respects. I want to help you reach a point where you become excited when facing a new challenge and confident while completing your exams.

In my experience as a tutor, I have served as both a private and a group tutor for over four years. During this time, I voluntarily taught a group of sixth grade students in weekly morning math classes. Additionally, I served as a private math tutor for four separate eleventh grade honors level math students. Since then, I have also helped prepare three other students for ACT and SAT exams. As a result, I have gained experience in private, in-person tutoring sessions with a focus in both math and standardized tests. I am qualified to tutor over a large range of disciplines, and I am excited to help you improve your scores and understanding in any area you require help.
