I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I am a recent graduate of Rice University, where I received a degree in social policy analysis and minored in statistics. I will begin a PhD program at Penn State in August 2019 in Education Policy, and I aspire to one day be a professor and researcher. I've chosen this field because I truly believe in the power of education to change lives, but it wasn't until college that I found education policy research as something I'm passionate about, and I remember the moment it clicked for me. I was sitting in a policy analysis course sophomore year when I realized there was a field that combined my interests in education and equity with my love of math and the scientific method. I hope to help other students work towards their "aha" moment in which learning transcends a specific class and becomes more meaningful, connecting a student's interests, passions, and motivations. I have been tutoring for the past six years, and I truly enjoy meeting with and helping my peers. I hope to make each tutoring session fun and engaging, and I want students to leave with a thorough understanding of concepts rather than a memorized process. In my free time, I love jogging and weight lifting, though I bake enough to offset the effects of exercise. When I have extended breaks, I love to go camping and backpacking around the US.
