Elizabeth: Bayonne tutor
Certified Tutor
I am completing my freshman year at the University of the Rochester studying Brain and Cognitive Sciences. At the high school level, I have tutored peers in French as a member of the French Honor Society. I have also worked with middle school students studying Algebra 1. I am in the process of securing an assistant teaching position in my sophomore year for the course, Principles in Biology. My most recent tutoring project involved assisting a high school student to draft her college essay. I have walked in my students' shoes. I understand the scope and depth of the academic material they are facing. I can share my insight and strategies for standardized testing success, The Common Application process, and the college essay writing process. I can also assist my students with their science coursework or other subjects.
I am qualified to provide tutoring for a broad range of subjects but I am most passionate about science and standardized test preparation. I believe that while it is important to build a student's knowledge and understanding, tutoring also builds confidence within a student that encourages a desire to continue learning. I aim to foster this desire in my students by presenting challenging information in an organized and hands-on manner.
I graduated with high honors from high school with an International Baccalaureate Diploma. I am now an honors student at college. As much as I enjoy my academic pursuits, I like to enjoy activities outside the classroom too! In my free time I enjoy hiking, playing guitar, and participating in races and sprint-triathlons.
