It is important that teachers use a variety of methods to make sure that students behave. Teachers should also create and maintain relationships with their students. This allows for students to have trust in their teachers and sense that their teachers care about their success. When students have a relationship with their teacher, they tend to behave. Teachers should "create positive, supportive learning communities in which all students feel safe and respected" (Jones & Jones, 2016 p. 23). Teachers use their personal experiences in order to guide their classroom management plans.
I want to create an environment where students feel safe and there is a structured learning environment. It is important to build the teacher-student relationship with each student. Creating this connection allows for students to see that their teacher cares about them and their wellbeing. Students should also be rewarded for making good choices while bad choices will have to face consequences. Through creating my management plan, I will implement my personal philosophy, as well as philosophies that I have encountered that have been successful in other classrooms.
