I am a rising senior at the University of Richmond, working toward my Bachelor's in History. My interest in tutoring and teaching started when I started volunteering in the Richmond Public School system where I ran stations in Reading and Math. I wanted to work in a setting where I could work one-on-one with students; so, I began volunteering at Youthlife Foundation of Richmond, an after-school program for students in the Richmond Public Schools. I interned there for two summers, creating my own curriculum in Reading and Math, tailored to the students needs based on tests run by the program. I believe education is an important tool of empowerment and essential in having some control of the future. I believe each student has great potential and a unique style of learning which makes tutoring so important. Through tutoring, students can receive more lessons adapted to their style.
