I was brought up speaking French and English in the home with a French mother and an American father. I grew up in Europe and later moved to the US to study at Western Washington University and later at the School for International Training in Vermont. While I am bilingual, I can understand the time and effort it takes to reach fluency in a foreign language and I am committed to helping you succeed.
As a language teacher of both French and English and a teacher trainer, I have a personal appreciation for cultural and linguistic diversity. The challenges that come with learning a new language can be huge and often frustrating and exhilarating at the same time. Most of my childhood and high school years were spent studying German extensively and later on as an adult, I took up Spanish.
I have been teaching on and off for over 20 years and am adept at quickly gauging the needs and motivations of my students. I believe that any kind of learning takes place when the teaching is supportive, clear, and relevant to the student's life. For this reason, I use a number of approaches to help make the subject matter fun and accessible. I've worked with a variety of ages, levels, and I look forward to meeting you!
