Throughout college and medical school, one of my biggest passions has been teaching students of varying ages in a number of subjects. As a freshman at Harvard, I was enlisted to be a debate coach at a local school in Boston that was starting a new debate program. Through this experience, I began to develop tutoring and mentoring skills that helped me convey teaching points effectively. I was then able to parlay these newfound skills into a tutoring position as a junior and senior, where I tutored younger undergraduate students in physics and statistics. Over the course of four years, I learned how to not only teach difficult concepts, but also develop a rapport with mentees such that their interest for learning was further ignited.

While in medical school at Vanderbilt, I have had the opportunity to continue tutoring and developing my own professional teaching style. As a third- and fourth-year medical student, I have led review sessions on microbiology, cardiology, and other organ systems, which have been met with praise by students. I have truly enjoyed mentoring students and seeing students identify their passions and pursue them, and I am excited to be able to continue doing this through Varsity Tutors!
