Certified Tutor

I am a senior undergraduate studying English and Urban Education at the University of Pennsylvania. I have completed the coursework corresponding to a Master's degree in Urban Education from Penn's Graduate School of Education, and I hope to pursue a career as a high school English teacher after graduation.

I am an accomplished reader and writer; I have published literary reviews in the Adroit literary journal, and I won the 2016 Sigma Kappa Fiction Prize for the best short story written by an undergraduate student at the University of Pennsylvania. I was valedictorian of my high school class, and I won the School English prize for outstanding English achievement.

More importantly, my education coursework has provided me with a solid foundation for imparting knowledge of reading, writing, and literature to students who may be struggling. I have been fortunate to study pedagogical best practices, such as student-centered and project-based learning, that allow me to target students' individual needs. I am equally comfortable working on phonemic awareness with a second grader as I am partnering with an eleventh grader to craft an arguable, well-supported thesis. My versatility and eagerness to work through difficult material alongside students are my foremost strengths as an educator.
