I did my undergraduate work in mathematics at Freed-Hardeman University, a small, liberal arts college in Tennessee. I received my M.A. in Communication from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and a Master of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. I'm currently working toward a doctorate at Samford University and am on schedule to complete it in the Fall of 2018.

I've enjoyed working with people of all ages. I've tutored basic math to students in middle school and high school, and I've worked with older students who are working on their first undergraduate degree. I currently teach as an adjunct faculty member at a local university.

I love tutoring several subjects. I've enjoyed math for as long as I can remember, and I love helping students understand the joys of math. I also tutor in the areas of communication, English, writing, and editing -- passions I developed in graduate school and in my writing and blogging for the last ten years.

It's hard for me to pick a subject that I like tutoring the most, because I enjoy them all. If forced to choose, I would pick math, because it's something that many people struggle with. But I enjoy helping students in many areas. The important thing for me is to help students grow in whatever area they seek guidance.

I tutor by helping students discover for themselves the principles of what they are learning, whether it's math, communication, writing, speaking, or editing. It doesn't help students for me merely to tell them the correct answers. They're much more likely to remember what they learn if they discover the answers themselves (with helpful guidance).

Outside of academia, I enjoy all kinds of sports: running, hiking, biking, and golfing, among others. I also enjoy flying (I've been working on getting my pilot's license!), reading, and spending time with my wife and kids. I'm also a pretty big college football fan.
