I started my academic career at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington where I received a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in chemistry. I then moved to Portland and received a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Science from Portland State University and my M.A. in Psychology from Adler University. I am currently in the application process for medical school, which is quite the adventure. I spent most of my educational career trying to find the best way to study complex material, and studying in groups, where we each take turns "teaching" the material to each other turned out to be the most effective way for me to really comprehend the material I was learning. This affinity for teaching turned me tutoring. I also have spent quite a bit of time in the research realm, where I had to broker complex scientific topics to people and agencies that needed the gist of the situation without having the foundational scientific knowledge. This experience taught me how to break down information into digestible chunks so it can be understood and built upon - a skill that I use quite frequently when teaching.

I do love the physical sciences, but there's a special place in my heart for the social sciences. The brain/body axis is one of my particular areas of interest. Seeing the interplay between psychology and physiology is absolutely fascinating to me, and it's what I hope to build my career around.

Outside of academia, I am a Soldier, I've been working in that field for the last almost 7 years now. I started as a medic and now am working in the logistics field. If I'm not working, then I mostly like to hang out with my two cats, Zorro and Whiskey, and read Harry Potter.
