Certified Tutor

My educational and employment experiences have given me an in-depth understanding of academics, learning and student needs. Additionally, as someone who was labeled as having a "math deficiency" in grade school, I know what it's like to feel "behind the curve." My wish is to not only help students excel, but to help them feel confident and competent as well.

For some specifics about my background, I've completed both a bachelor's and master's program in psychology. In the course of that, I studied human development, learning disorders, career development and perception/memory. All of these subjects are integral to education.

In regards to relevant employment, I've worked as a high school English/literature tutor, a vocational rehabilitation assistant and a copyeditor/writer. As a vocational rehabilitation assistant, I designed and taught job acquirement/maintenance classes to adults 18-50 with various disabilities, both physical and mental. I also have a great deal of experience assisting students and individuals with developing and improving essays, research papers and the like. Currently, I'm freelance writing for a General Education Development (GED) Test preparation company. I'm responsible for drafting reference and question material in the subjects of language arts, social studies and science.
