Certified Tutor

I am a certified elementary school teacher with a Masters in Teaching from North Carolina State University. I was a full-time classroom teacher in 4th and 5th grade before leaving the classroom full-time to focus on my family.

Since 2015, I have tutored online and in person, focusing on writing and reading skills. I have tutored students in grades 4 all the way through the graduate school level, and have also focused on working with ESL students.

My teaching philosophy is relationships first: that means I view each student as an individual and get to know them both as a learner and a person in order to best help them achieve their academic goals. There is no one-size-fits-all method to educating or tutoring and my approach with every student is unique.

When I am not tutoring or being a mom to my young daughter, I am also a published writer, a pet lover, and a huge lover of the arts. Prior to becoming a teacher, I obtained a bachelors degree in Theatre Arts (Skidmore College) and a Masters Degree in Arts Management (Columbia College) and worked for several years doing PR and Marketing for touring Broadway productions. I like to think I bring a little of that creative energy and theatrical flair to my teaching style as well!
