I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

I am high energy not in demeanor but in ambition. The golden ticket to great writing is great ideas. Challenge my every word and I will call you a student. Learning is a process of discovery - you can do it on your own but the wise seek counsel. You are the wise one here! Reasons why I am a good pick for your roster: I am published in two literary magazines: Pathways Magazine - for prose and flash fiction - and First Impressions for poetry. I completed my Associate Degree in English from Glendale Community College and I am now currently attending Arizona State University pursuing a major in English Secondary Ed (I am studying English to teach it). Because I am currently taking 300 level English and grammar courses, the information I provide could not be more relevant. I specialize in essay writing, academic reports (research papers), creative writing, reading, analyzing texts, and tackling the big ideas of a piece of writing (synthesis). That being said, I also have skills in history (high school level), business and marketing (high school level), and religious studies (undergrad level). If you chose me as your tutor, I can personally guarantee that you will learn something new at every meeting. If you need versatility in your repertoire, I can bring your team to the playoffs and beyond. My process: Building a connection and making the student feel special is the only way to make progress. When I sit down with a student, I genuinely want to know how they think. Everyone absorbs knowledge differently - some learn best visually, some by a story, and some by kinetically (my favorite). I love using analogies to put things into perspective for my students. For example, I think we can all agree that Shakespeare can spit bars and there is a genius in his rap. He really was the Eminem of his day. Although that may sound silly, my approach is intellectually rigorous. I am trained in logic and know very intimately that a flawed foundation is really the cause of all academic failure. My highest ambition/purpose/drive/goal as a tutor is to fill the knowledge gaps in my students' foundation of whatever subject they are struggling in. Mastery of a subject is not only possible but absolutely necessary. Outside of school, I am a father of a two-year-old girl, a husband, and legal guardian to my cousin. I have big ambitions to start my own school someday and ultimately out-compete the state in education. If you want to take your writing to the next level or just need help with the basics, I'm here to help you discover that skill with you. Feel free to shoot me a text if you need help. I am free late in the evenings if need be (I know the 11:59 pm deadline is real!). - Chase Gielda

I love learning. In my free time, I watch TED talks, listen to a philosophy podcast by Steve Patterson and I read Jeffery Tucker's blog posts on Liberty.me. My creative outlet is making playlists and burning them to CDs. I will give you a free CD if you ask!
