I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Certified Tutor

I love to tutor students in any topic/skill within the field of English. I myself am an English and Women and Gender Studies major, got A's in all of my AP literature and AP composition classes in high school, and had ACT scores that were in the 30's range for English and Reading.

In addition to this, I have spent the past eight years tutoring students in a variety of age groups and subjects in reading comprehension, writing, and grammar. I have tutored elementary school students, high schoolers, undergraduate, and graduate students and have helped students write papers or understand readings in journalism classes, psychology classes, women and gender studies classes, English classes, literature classes, and ESL classes. As a tutor, I had a 95% return rate, meaning that the majority of the students I tutored specifically requested me to be their tutor again due to the success they had in my sessions.

Despite the wide breadth of subjects and ages that I have tutored, one thing always remains the same in these tutoring sessions: Each session is tailored to the individual needs, questions, and struggles of the student I am working with and each session gets the student closer to achieving their academic and personal goals.

As an individual who has recently graduated from undergrad, and someone who is currently seeking the help of a tutor to study for the LSAT, I understand how important the role of a tutor is in cultivating success. I have the experience, knowledge, and empathy to help individuals be as successful as they can in the field of English and I would love to be able to help you achieve your goals!
