Some people are naturally good test takers. I am not one of them and chances are if you are reading this that you aren't one either.
My name is Jon and I graduated from Dartmouth College in 2002. I've learned many skills that have allowed me to excel academically, at preparing and taking standardized tests and in the corporate world. I've achieved many of my goals and I know that I can help you achieve yours.
After Dartmouth I completed the equivalent of a Masters in Accountancy at the University of Vermont. I was hired by a CPA firm and worked there for seven years. During that time I passed the CPA exam, became a licensed accountant, and was promoted to several management positions. I was responsible for not only audit and tax work, but the training and education of our staff. I currently work as a Vice President of Finance and Financial Reporting for an insurance focused financial services company.
Early on in my corporate career I decided that I was going to pursue a graduate degree in business. MBA programs are extremely competitive and I needed a great GMAT score to get into a top tier program. I enrolled in a prep course at Kaplan Test Prep. I studied hard and put in many long nights completing practice tests and course requirements. When I took the GMAT three months later I improved my score from a 600 to a 730 (97th percentile) and received a perfect score on the writing assessment.
Teaching and training students and employees has been the most rewarding part of my career. After my score improvement Kaplan invited me back as an instructor. It seemed only right to give back to them and help future students even though I was a busy working professional. I've taught courses for the GMAT and other graduate exams approximately 20 times, and have tutored over 95 students privately for the exams. I am a very experienced tutor and know that I can help you achieve your goals. I greatly look forward to working with you.
