I seek to not only ensure that my students master the content that I teach, but also to meet learning goals; thus fostering critical thinking skills, assisting in the development of problem solving skills, and to prepare all students for high school and college graduation.
My teaching philosophy is set on high level student engagement to foster active learning, and varied assessments to reinforce student acquisition of knowledge.
In the past, I have taught U.S. History and Advanced Placement U.S. History at the high school and middle school level. My students were of varied abilities, yet I found it important to find a way to relate to each of them and make the information palpable so all could understand. This greatly improved content knowledge and eventually test scores. I feel that it is important for students not only to have an understanding of content, but have the opportunity to use critical thinking and problem solving skills to deepen their knowledge and mastery of the subject matter in order to apply it to their daily lives.
