Certified Tutor

From a young age, math has been something I enjoyed more than any other subject I was exposed to in my academic studies. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology, but I've always enjoyed breaking down mathematical concepts and understanding them at a deeper level than simply learning the steps to get good grades. I believe math can be better understood by breaking it down to the essentials, which is a consistent message in my tutoring. In my opinion, peoples' issues in mathematics can be traced to gaps in their math knowledge, which then leads to self-doubt and a dislike for math in general. My ultimate goal is to build my students from the ground up and help them gain a true understanding of the mathematical concepts that we cover. With a stronger grasp on the material, any student will be able to gain confidence and succeed in future math courses because math is all a progression of knowledge.

In terms of experience, I have many years of unofficial experience as a math tutor for my friends and family in which I began the process of molding my tutoring style. Officially, I spent my senior year of college as a mathematics tutor, and I tutored several different courses like statistics, college algebra, business statistics, and psychological statistics. Through this experience, I gained a better understanding of how to tailor my tutoring style in a more formal environment. I believe my passion for math, along with my tutoring experience, allows me to provide students a solid tutoring atmosphere.
