I currently serve as the English Language Arts Content Lead and Special Education teacher for a small charter school in DC. I have a Masters of Education in Literacy Leadership from American University. I've taught reading intervention at the elementary and middle school level. As a Special Education Teacher, I am able to pinpoint the reading needs of a student and propose the correct intervention. As the ELA Content Lead I ensure that the curriculum is prepared so that all children have access. I currently teach 8th grade ELA, 7th grade reading intervention, and tutor 2nd grade reading after school. I have experience teaching novel studies, fluency, reading strategies, phonics, and comprehension.
