Hello!
I am passionate about science and I have been teaching 13 years. I have taught kindergarten, 7th grade science (geology, astronomy, ecology) 8th grade science (biology, physics, chemistry, ecology) and high school chemistry. I'm excited to work with you as a tutor through Varsity Tutors. I grew up in New Mexico and moved to Arizona about 10 years ago. I have a Bachelors degree in Chemistry from Brigham Young University and a Masters degree in Elementary Education from the University of New Mexico. I have another Masters in Teaching and Teacher Education through the University of Arizona.
During the summer, I like to work with students and look for opportunities to improve my teaching practices. Most recently, I have taken classes through ASU on Chemistry Modeling. It is an amazing program and has helped many students learn chemistry. I have enjoyed working as a camp instructor for ASUs Summer Engineering Academy. I also had the opportunity to participate in the CBiRC (Center for Biorenewable Chemicals) Summer Academy at Iowa State University. In the past I have spent three summers as a SRP teacher intern in the Air Quality and Lab Services Department. I have also worked at Fermilab, a Department of Energy research laboratory in Batavia, Illinois.
Before becoming a teacher, I taught English in Taiwan. I also speak some Spanish and studied it in college. During my free time I enjoy gardening, reading, hiking, camping and traveling. I also enjoy being with my dog, Dusty and taking him for walks every day.
I look forward to learning more about you and helping your achieve your academic goals.
