What is your teaching philosophy?

No one is perfect, but we can always improve by transforming our weaknesses into strengths. Every day is a new opportunity to learn, grow and be a better person.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Get to know the student, his/her interests and goals.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

Instilling interest and being uplifting, and encouraging their work.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

By keeping the focus on their dreams and goals. How will they feel when they accomplish them?

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Taking the time to explain the concept in a way they can comprehend.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

First, find topics or books that are interesting for the student. Second, help them focus on reading. Repetition is the way to succeed. Keep repeating…

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Finding the motivation areas of the student and keeping them on track by encouraging them.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

I give my own experience in learning. Until we understand a concept it might be vague, but the more we understand, the more we would want to learn.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

Giving real-time examples makes students comprehend the concepts easily.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

By recognizing even simple progress they have done in that particular subject.
