I have a Master of Education: Educational Administration, Curriculum, and Supervision, and a B.A. in Anthropology with a minor in Teaching English as a Second Language. I have certifications in middle school Social Studies and K-12 English. My favorite subjects to tutor are English, writing, and social studies. I have tutored middle school, high school, and college-level students. Currently, I teach middle school geography and adult ESL. Outside of school, I enjoy painting, crafting, and walking. I prefer to tutor at a public location.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I would take the time to get to know the student and see what they want from their tutoring sessions. I would also take time to understand how they best learn.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I would help a student stay motivated by providing them with insight into what their learning can afford them as they move through life.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
I would do my best to try out different strategies for the student based on learning styles. I would attempt visual, verbal, etc., types of learning.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
In order to help students with reading comprehension, I use various strategies including chunking, paraphrasing, vocabulary prep, etc.
