I am a graduate of Union College, where I was awarded a BA degree, with Honors in English. After graduation, I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer for two years in El Salvador, teaching English at the National University in San Salvador. That was where and when I first learned how much I enjoy teaching.
When I returned from Central America, I went to Law School at the University of Michigan. After graduation, I returned to Connecticut and practiced law for about fifteen years. During this time I also graded Bar Exam Essays for the Connecticut Bar Examining Committee. I then accepted a job at General Reinsurance in Stamford, supervising litigation and arbitration all over the country. I stayed at Gen Re for almost twenty-five years.
I believe that teaching or tutoring is a journey best taken together. Since I have been over the ground before, many many times, I am familiar with some of the pitfalls and many of the shortcuts; and can provide a perspective which many students will find helpful. I see my task as making sure that we arrive safely at our destination together, having had as interesting and enjoyable a passage as possible.
