I've always had a love for tutoring, even in second grade when my teacher saw that I could help struggling peers with their work. Throughout high school, I tutored students in various subjects as a part-time job, but after graduating college, I followed my passion for education and began teaching mathematics in public high schools. I even began an afterschool tutoring program that was highly successful. I love watching the light bulb go off in students, and it is especially gratifying in mathematics because it can sometimes seem so challenging, but it is so rewarding when you finally get it. I'm excited to work with Varsity Tutors to connect with students who may have had trouble with math in the past, but want to do well and want to grasp the material.

What is your teaching philosophy?
With mathematics in particular, students can find material daunting and confusing. By breaking up a problem into smaller ideas that are easier to grasp and then praising students for the progress they make with each one, you allow a student to celebrate their successes while also helping them gain access to the larger concept.
