What is your teaching philosophy?

Personally, I always thought that teaching would be an important part of my career path. As someone who aspires to be a professor, every opportunity to teach is a chance to learn, and I have definitely learned a lot. First and foremost, my experience has taught me how much work and dedication goes into teaching; from creating a lesson, to finding easy ways to explain procedures, to tailoring that for each student's learning style. Secondly, I realized that there is no perfect way to teach, and sometimes you can try your best and not be successful at transmitting what you wanted, but other times you achieve it without a lot of effort. I have learned that sometimes you walk into a classroom and you and your students just don't connect, and as frustrating as that may be, it's part of the process. I've had to learn not to get discouraged by my student's lack of interest in certain topics and to try my best to make even the most dreaded topic into an interesting lecture. Lastly, I learned that if I had questions about anything, I can always rely on the people around me. I've learned that although teaching is fluid and personal, there is always room to adopt new things and learn to apply them to your teaching style.
