It would be my pleasure to share with students of any walks of life, what I have been fortunate to experience and learn.
Born in Havana, Cuba, on the day the Fidel Castro drove into Centro Havana. I find it is our experiences and how we perceive them that builds our present place in the world.
Education, was very important in my family, it expanded beyond books to Art, Music, Dance etc. They taught me to develop a keen sense of hearing, to look and be aware of what is said by studying human nature i.e. People's gazes, their stance, the speed of which the conversation flows or doesn't flow.
I choose to see the narrative we have created.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I let the student discover most of the experience for themselves. I see when a student gets "it", and when they see what was hidden before them. Spewing out information will not allow the student to learn what they hear.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I always ask questions, and get to know what and why they want to take the course.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I help them by finding patterns and logical formats so that they can teach themselves.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
I always work with questions that would entertain their imagination.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Take a breather, try to see the student in a different light, and see if they can learn by touch and not sound or by experience and not listening to a lesson plan.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Rhythm is crucial to learning, so I would maybe approach the reading material similar to listening to music.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
I listen, listen, and listen some more. I ask questions and see what the student says and pay attention to them.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
It's best to stay calm. I have used games as a way to relieve the stress. We talk.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
There are some simple tactics. Have them relay back to me what was said, have them model what they have learned, and ask them to teach someone else what they learned today.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
I match the student's skills with the lesson plan, not too high or low. Slowly build their confidence and the challenges are exposed.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
I can measure their understanding by listening and talking to them, revisiting the subject matter in different ways, and making sure they get it.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
I listen to the student's needs, change my tone of voice, alter the mood, or speed up or slow down. I ask them what is wrong.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
Workbooks, movies, and flashcards for Spanish. For drawing and painting, we will look at the masters of fine arts, copy a painting, draw from observation, etc.
