Knowledge isn't just learning about a particular topic. It's applying what you've learned in real life situations that make you valuable in the marketplace.
My goal as your tutor is to make sure you get the most out of your tutoring experience. I will customize a strategy to help you develop your critical thinking skills as well as address any deficiencies that are preventing you from getting the best possible grade.
I stress the importance of strategy with every student I work with. A great strategy will ensure success not just in academia but in the real world as well.
Besides tutoring, I am also a self-published author with six books available on Amazon. I run an online publishing/consultation business where I help writers and entrepreneurs develop their creative process.
Prior to starting my writing career I worked in the banking and real estate industries. I currently have a degree in Finance from the University of South Florida where I am also completing my second bachelors in English.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is to make sure every student I work with develops critical thinking skills, which help them solve problems inside and outside of the classroom.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I like to build a relationship with my students while asking questions that will help me understand their strengths and weaknesses and what I can do to address the problem they have.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I will stress the importance of developing a strategy in attacking a problem and developing a proper mindset which embraces the learning process rather than the end result.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
By highlighting the progress they've made and making the tutoring experience fun and exciting.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
If a student has a difficult time understanding a concept, I will change my teaching approach. Every person has a different way of learning things. So, I adjust my approach based on what suits the student best.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
The reason why many students struggle with reading comprehension is because they do not read enough. I will stress the importance of reading outside the classroom; books, newspaper articles, etc. Reading good writing will improve their reading comprehension and prepare them for higher-level English courses.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
I find one of the best strategies is to develop a framework that can be applied to other fields. Habits such as reading and writing for just a few minutes a day can make a dramatic improvement in the student's reading and writing skills. Sometimes the smallest adjustments make for the biggest results.
