Certified Tutor
I have earned a Masters degree in Science Education from the University of Vienna in Austria and graduate credits from the City University of New York. I have participated in summer research programs at Hunter College and Columbia University, both of which focused on the topic of genetics. I hold a New York State Permanent Teaching License in Biology and General Science. I have over 10 years of experience teaching science to middle and high school students in New York City and Vienna. I have also taught German as a foreign language.
I am a naturally very curious person and have always been passionate about learning new things. As a teacher I am trying to ignite that spark of passion for learning in my students. My ultimate goal is to teach them to be independent learners and problem solvers, to be critical readers, to ask questions, to know where to look for answers as well as to have the self confidence to tackle novel problems and find their own solutions.
Over the course of my teaching career I have dealt with a broad range of challenges that students face when they struggle with understanding concepts, especially in the sciences. I was able to develop many different approaches to help students overcome these obstacles and start to enjoy learning.
I would be very happy to share my knowledge and expertise, passion and curiosity with you or your child.
