Certified Tutor
I am a graduate student at Mercy College, studying to earn my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Two things I am passionate about are movement, and helping people, which luckily fits very nicely to my career goals. Education is so important and should be a fun experience for everyone. By helping students on an individual level, I hope to make learning science more enjoyable. Biology is my specialty but can help explain basic concepts in Chemistry and Physics as well. I have helped a variety of students, ranging from 2nd grade to undergraduate in college. In my spare time, I am often studying, running, playing with my two dogs, or watching sports (football, hockey, and basketball are my favorites, but I'll watch anything).

What is your teaching philosophy?
Every student has a different learning style. Teaching must be done on an individual level and must use techniques that are "outside the box" to help students.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I would try to help students get to the root of the problem. Is it the vocabulary that is difficult, or visualizing what the question/statement is referencing? Once we figure out the problem, we can work on exercises to improve whatever is causing the struggle.
