I graduated from Augustana College with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and English. Since graduating, I have worked with a variety of students in middle school and high school as an English teacher and tutor. While I have taught and tutored students in reading, writing, and test prep, I am most passionate about working with struggling writers to help them develop writing skills that will serve them throughout their educational career, and beyond. As a teacher, I believe that all students are capable of great things, and I am committed to helping students achieve their fullest potential. I know that all learners are individuals, with a unique set of experiences, challenges, and gifts, and I promise to work with each student's individual needs in order to help them achieve their goals.

What is your teaching philosophy?
I believe that students learn best when they are able to apply the skills and information that they are learning to real-life situations. This means that students are not simply memorizing facts, but applying this information to their lives, and discovering how they can use the information and the skills they are learning to make something meaningful. It is my job as a teacher to provide students with opportunities for them to connect their learning to their previous knowledge, use their knowledge in meaningful settings, and develop the critical-thinking skills they will need in order to tackle any problem that might come their way.
