Agustina: Chelsea tutor
Certified Tutor
Through my formal education, internships, and jobs, I have gained respect for professions that assist children in educational settings. I have gained valuable work experience while working with children. My first work experience after graduating UCLA was as a Group Leader for middle school students in New York. I advised them on the importance of developing necessary skills while transitioning to young adolescents. Soon after, I worked as an Elementary School Counselor where I supervised children from kindergarten through 5th grade. Currently, I am working as a High 5s Facilitator for Kindergarten students, in where I teach math to students who live in low-income communities.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a typical first session I will identify the students strengths and weaknesses in the subject area and help make improve those weaknesses.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I will allow a student to answer a question the best way can. Once they answer it, I will revise it with them and provide feedback. Next, I will provide them with a similar problem and let them answer it independently first.
