What is your teaching philosophy?

I am happy and excited to teach anyone who is willing to learn and is curious. Everything else can be acquired and developed. I truly believe that anyone is capable of doing whatever they want to do if their will is strong enough. Looking forward to meeting you!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I will completely adapt to your level and will take it from there. We will review what you know and will learn step by step. I will challenge you in a constructive and fun way and promise fast progress!

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

Bring questions. Ask, ask, ask! This is so important, so you will soon be able to answer them yourself. I will give you homework that guides you towards independent learning.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I strive to keep my lessons fun and positive and challenge you so that you might not even notice but still learn steadily. I will help you stay on track so you don't feel overwhelmed.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Help him/her by addressing the problem and providing guidance working through it. Communication is the key to problem solving!

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

We will work on easy text that I will read aloud for them and they will repeat after me. We will go step by step and discuss what has been read, grammar, and vocabulary.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Listening to the student's needs. Let them state their goal - where do they want to get with this? What do they want to achieve? Or is it a hobby that they want to keep up? All is valid and good. It's just important to state it.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

Identifying the struggle and simplifying exercises as much as possible. Also, learning in a playful way often helps.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

I let them repeat it to me again to make sure they understood.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

Practice. Practice. Practice.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

Listening to what they want to achieve with taking classes, starting off with very basic exercises (mostly to see how far their vocabulary and grammar reaches). Engaging them in conversation and seeing how they are doing.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

I have to listen to their needs and see where they are at.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

Textbooks and material I have collected over the years. Literature if they are advanced students. Sometimes, just our environment and conversation.
