I am very happy with our experience so far with Varsity Tutors. They matched my daughter with reading specialist Mary and she is wonderful! My 10 year old daughter feels happy after her sessions and believes her tutor has already helped her.

Katherine

Certified Tutor

I'm a senior at Tufts University getting my Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology, and I am on the pre-medical tract with aspirations of attending medical school in the near future. In the meantime, I plan to spend a year or two after graduation working in the healthcare/science community in Boston. I have a wide variety of interests both academic and non-academic, which has led me to dabble in a multitude of activities and hobbies in my life. I spend a great deal of time conducting research in a molecular genetics lab at Tufts as well as choreographing/ performing with a student-run contemporary dance group on campus. I think it's incredibly important to be exposed to and aware of the world around us, so I've traveled to various Latin American countries conducting global health research and participating in medical brigades. I am a firm believer that learning can be enjoyable and a source of self-confidence as long as the teaching style is tailored to reflect a student's strengths and weaknesses. I hope that, through Varsity Tutors, I will have a chance to flip on a few lightbulbs for students that feel as if they are scrambling in the dark.

What is your teaching philosophy?

Everyone learns in a different way, so the most meaningful way of teaching is really tailoring the education to helping students overcome their struggles both inside and outside of the classroom.
