I graduated from Rice University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. I am 28 years old and have worked in the oil and gas industry for 5 years as a corrosion engineer.

My teaching style focuses on tailoring to individual students. This allows for personal growth rather than a cookie cutter method. I have tutored for the last 5 years. My expertise are in Math, Science, SAT, and other standardized tests. My philosophy on learning is truly understanding the topic and subject, develop a strong foundation in the material, and finally experience many examples in the topic.

I enjoy fitness, fashion, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Find out the student's interests. Make a few jokes to keep the tone light but serious.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I like to use the metaphor of training wheels. I want the student to initially be guided to solve the problems, but eventually be able to solve the problems without the training wheels on.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I have a pretty good sense of humor and always like to look at situations from a bigger picture standpoint to allow students to answer the question "Why am I doing this?"
