Certified Tutor

My first experience with tutoring occurred while helping my family members in multiple math subjects. I then tutored algebra, geometry and physics at my local high school. My love for math and science, specifically chemistry, are driving me to become a chemical engineer. I hope that by showing younger generations real and useful applications of math and science they can become more excited about it. I'm a firm believer in positive attitudes being contagious and my main goal is to eradicate the negative stigma that surrounds math classes. By breaking down classes like algebra, calculus and geometry I can get students to understand simple concepts and then work on compounding these ideas into the "bigger picture" that each of these courses wishes to convey.

What is your teaching philosophy?

Breaking down complex ideas into simple and easy to digest concepts.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Address the student's strengths and weaknesses in order to identify exactly what areas we should spend the most time on.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

By instilling a sense of intrigue and fascination within the student. By getting a student interested and excited about math and science, it allows them to easily learn new ideas.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Finding out exactly what concept or area the student has difficulty in. This allows me to address this issue directly and help the student master this material.
