At times, studying can be a challenge. With the proper techniques, strong dedication and a desire to learn and do well, I can help you succeed at your goals.

Prior to attending and graduating from dental school, I tutored elementary, middle school and high school students. I have experience in tutoring subjects including, but not limited to, algebra and arithmetic, history, science, and English. I've also helped tutor students studying for the DAT. I strive for my students to succeed--and with a little effort, they do!

People like subjects that they do well in. A little bit of time each day goes a long way in the path to success. In the past 8 years of studying, I have taken many exams and have learned a few tricks. If you put in the time and really understand the materials, success is inevitable! I look forward to meeting you!

What is your teaching philosophy?

If you want to succeed, you will succeed!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I like to learn how you study and determine how effective it is, followed by working to improve your strategy.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

First, the student has to understand the material, then build confidence with positive reinforcement. Don't doubt yourself. Those two allow for the transition to becoming an independent learner.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

Once you succeed, you will be motivated!

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

Find out their technique, and work to better that technique. If that doesn't work, help incorporate a new technique that the student is comfortable with.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

Practice, practice and practice.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Starting from the bottom and working our way through to the top.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

Build up their confidence; with confidence comes excitement!

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

Testing understanding by giving questions to answer and watching the student work their way through the problem.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

If the student understands the material, they will be able to answer the questions correctly, and with that comes confidence!

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

"Ask and you shall receive." By asking the student what he/she feels they are having issues in and going through the subject thoroughly to find out what else they are experiencing issues with.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

Students most likely have a technique they have been using that has or has not been working. Finding a technique that works well for the student will help the student with their needs.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

Excitement, Paper and Pen.
