Certified Tutor

Born and raised in France, from a somewhat hybrid ancestry (British/Argentine from my father and American/Russian from my mother), I have been fortunate enough to have been exposed to many cultural horizons and my curiosity eventually led me to pursue my undergraduate studies in New York at NYU, where I completed my BA in 2010, majoring in both Politics and Economics. My true passions have always been centered around the creative industries and throughout the years I have explored the worlds of art, fashion and fragrance. For the last three years, I have been part of the Fine Fragrance marketing team at the leading fragrance house International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF) in New York City.

Also essential to my personal development is my deep passion for art and music. Most of my early work experiences have been in the art and creative worlds, which not only enriched my knowledge in these fields but also gave me a broad view of the culture industries. My love for music and contemporary trends has extended into acquiring a DJ Certification this year which has greatly stimulated my artistic vision and creative flair in my daily work.

Another of my activities throughout my time in New York has been to tutor French to as many people as I can as I miss my home very much! I have taught French to all ages and all levels from fellow NYU students and friends to coworkers and families. I am very excited to tutor through Varsity Tutors and I look forward to tutoring French and sharing my culture and language with you!

I look forward to hearing from you.

What is your teaching philosophy?

Whether you want to learn the basics of the French language, prepare for an exam or strengthen your conversational skills, I am here to assist you. I adapt to all levels, from beginner to experienced and I am very attentive to what you want to emphasize: conjugation, grammar, vocabulary, conversation, etc.

My tutoring style is highly interactive and promotes active learning and participation through discussions, presentations, games, and activities. Additionally, I like to expose students to real samples of the language as it's used by French people, by incorporating it into lessons music, articles, advertisements, film clips, etc., that correspond with the subject or grammatical content being learned.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Introduce each other in French, assess the student's level and goals in the class, and make a strategic plan and schedule to achieve the goals together by a certain date.
