As a native Spanish speaker, the knowledge of Spanish, the understanding of culture and my experience in teaching help students I tutor learn it easily in a fun way. I am convinced that patience, clear explanations, rapport and motivation are the keys for success in teaching and learning. I understand that not everybody learns in the same way, not everybody has the same needs! I work with kids, young learners and adults. I hold a degree in Education and I also have been an English as a foreign language teacher at a Peruvian university for more than ten years.

What is your teaching philosophy?
Clear explanations, easy learning.

Make him/her feel comfortable.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
Teaching him/her techniques to learn.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Showing him he can manage what he is learning.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Explain the topic using simple examples to help him build his knowledge, then practice them.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
Teaching reading strategies.
What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?
Show the use of a content first( in context), and then explain the grammatical item.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
Using examples; situations that he can see in his everyday world.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Ask and answer questions. Correct the mistakes and write the correct form. Use the item learned to describe real activities in his routine.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Telling him that making mistakes is part of learning. Explaining that learning implies effort and time. Asking him what he thinks about teaching to adjust or improve it.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
Based on what he wants to reach through the learning of a specific item, considering his skills and learning style.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
Designing lessons for them according to what they need to learn and how they can get them better.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
Visual materials, paper, slides, books, markers, and audio.
