Marzia: La Grange Park tutor
Certified Tutor
I love to tutor for all the "aha!" moments my students have.
Currently, I am working on a degree in medicinal Biochemistry from Arizona State University. In the past, I've tutored the following major courses: Biology 1 and 2, General Chemistry 1 and 2, Organic Chemistry 1 and 2, Physics 1 and 2, as well as Calculus 1 and 2. I also enjoy tutoring elementary, junior high school, and high school level students in ALL subject matter. I have a deep understanding of these core subjects and promote learning from the fundamentals. My goal as a tutor is to not only teach difficult subject matter, but also to promote students to think critically and problem solve so that they develop the skills to be independent studiers.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My teaching philosophy is to focus on the fundamentals. I wish to collaboratively work with my students to identify the problem and solve it.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
I always try to gauge my student's knowledge in the first session. I like to ask them about their strengths and weaknesses. I also like to ask them what their goal is for the current tutoring session, as well as future sessions.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
To become an independent learner, a student must learn how to find the right resources to help them. In my teaching method, I encourage students to become independent learners by guiding them to online and print resources.
