Hello! I am a recent college graduate, with a degree in Biology from Iowa State University. I moved to Seattle to explore the careers in the area, and to experience what life is like in a big city. During my college career, I was a part of several study groups and helped classmates with their writing informally, but during my senior year, I tutored another student formally in their chemistry class.
Becoming a tutor for the first time made me realize how much I valued and enjoyed teaching. The opportunity to help another student with their own learning journey was a very positive experience, and it ignited an interest in tutoring again.
At the moment, I am most prepared to tutor for ACT and SAT preparation in all subject areas. My personal favorite areas are the English, reading, and writing portions of these tests. In addition, I am prepared to tutor college students in ecology, which was a particular interest of mine while obtaining my degree.
Outside of academics, I am interested in long hikes through the woods of Washington, reading fiction and nonfiction for pleasure, and getting to know my new city. In addition, I am enthusiastic about cooking and baking, and love to try new recipes, with varying levels of success.
I have a personal passion for learning, and an interest in sharing that passion with others. It is my belief that everyone learns differently, and that by discovering the right methods, everyone can be an effective learner. By finding out how you learn best, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.
